Kris S (IRSKIY) is a collage artist/painter currently living and working in Jakarta, Indonesia. His work is mainly inspired by movies, music, cartoons, architecture as well as historical events between the 1940s-1990s era. Using collage as his preferred technique, he combines figurative drawings, abstraction and materials such as paper and fabric to create a distinctive piece of art.
Artist statement
I am obsessed with sourcing and putting different objects and materials onto any surface whilst experimenting with its texture, color and composition — there’s always an element of surprise which I find very exciting and addicting. I often combine figuration, abstraction and collage in my work to see how it would co-exist, in the hopes that it would eventually give any kind of meaning.
